The Education Department, Govt. of Assam has today declared the evaluation process for the Assam Higher Secondary (Class 12) Final examinations on Thursday, July 1.    Students who are not satisfied with the evaluation system formulated by the Council this year will have the option of appearing in a special examination to be conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) whenever the COVID-19 situation allows.    AHSEC Evaluation Formula 2021 The assessment methodology is being categorized according to whether students have practical subjects or not. Addressing to media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said that the Assam HSLC and HS examinations are likely to be conducted from July 15 to July 20, 2021.   The CM, however, reiterated that the exams would be held only if the Covid-19 positivity rate in the state stands below 2 percent by July 1. “ If the positivity rate remains above 2 percent, the government will not risk the lives of students, thus, we will cancel the examination and consider school evaluation ,” said Himanta Biswa Sarma. He further added, “ The examination dates might be scheduled for one day or maximum up to two days. All the protocols of the COVID-19 shall be maintained at the centres. However, an assessment of the COVID situation will be done on July 1. IIT Guwahati Placement 2021 – Highest Package at 70 lakh Per Annum
The Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IIT-G) Placement 2021 was concluded successfully through virtual mode. The highest package offered this year is Rs 70 lakh per annum. A total of 686 students placed with average package more than last year.    Also, the average package offered to the students increased to Rs. 21.42 lakh per annum. Meanwhile, out of 584 B.Tech and B.Des students, 444 of them got job offers during the placement program. A total of 140 companies participated in the recruitment drive. The maximum offers were made from the information technology and software sector. According to the placement report, students from Computer Science and Engineering got the highest number of offers, followed by Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Electrical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) on Thursday postponed the civil services preliminary examination due to spike in Covid-19 cases in the country. The exam was scheduled to be held in June, however, the commission has announced that UPSC CSE prelims will be held on October 10 .     " Due to the prevailing conditions caused by the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), the Union Public Service Commission has deferred the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2021, which was scheduled to be held on 27th June, 2021. Now, this Examination will be held on 10th October, 2021, " the UPSC has notified. Last year , the Civil Services exam was also rescheduled from May 31 to October 4. So far, the main written exam has been over. The interview was put on hold due to rise in coronavirus cases.

Assam Govt to Pay Rs 100 per Day to Girl Students for Attending School
The Assam government is soon going to offer financial incentives to school and college students so as to encourage  them to attend their classes regularly. Announcing the same in Sivasagar, state education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said girl students will receive Rs 100 for every day they attend school.   The minister said the Rs 100-a-day scheme will be launched by the end of the current month, but did not speak anything about the details like the financial implications for the government for its implementation. The minister said an amount of Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,000 will be deposited to the bank accounts of undergraduate and postgraduate students respectively by the end of January to help them buy books and other study material. “ We had planned this last year itself but couldn’t implement it because of the spread of Covid-19. We wanted to pay money for attending classes to girls in both schools and colleges, ” said Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma .

Assam : New SOP for School Reopening from January 1
The government of Assam has released the Standard Operating Procedure guidelines (SOP) for the reopening of schools from January 1, 2021.   The SOP includes the opening and functioning of upper primary schools (Class-VI, VII & VIII) secondary schools (Class-IX, X), senior secondary schools (Class-XI, XII)/ degree colleges/ engineering colleges/ polytechnics/ private educational institutions as well as government and private training and coaching institutes/ universities in the state of Assam which started functioning on a staggered basis and w.e.f 1st January, 2020. According to the new SOP, Class 1 to 5 will start classes on alternate days, Classes of 1, 2 and 3 standards will be conducted on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Assam : New Fee Structure Introduced for Private Schools
New Fee Structure for Private Schools of Assam   The Assam Government has fixed new fee structure of non-government (private) educational institutes in the state for the academic year 2021-22.   A notification issued by the principal secretary of elementary and secondary education, B Kalyan Chakravarthy stated that from the academic year 2021-22, guardians of students in the pre-primary stage up to class 5 would have to pay Rs 27,000 annually, and Rs 32,000 for those studying in classes 6 to 10. In the technical streams, the annual fees for students studying in classes XI and XII will be Rs 37,000 for Science, Rs 32,000 for Arts, Rs 33,000 for Commerce and Rs 35,000 for other streams. Assam : Hostels to Reopen from Dec 15 in a Limited Manner
The Assam Government has decided to reopen the college hostels for final year students, and and Classes 10 and 12 for residential schools from December 15.   Speaking at a press conference on November 30, health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that hostels of the colleges, universities, and residential schools will be reopened but in a limited manner. He said, ' Only the final year students of the colleges, universities, and polytechnic colleges will be allowed to come back to the hostels from the 15th of  December ." The residential schools can also open their hostels for only classes 10 and 12 students but not for the other classes. The institution heads have been asked to make arrangement for sanitizing the rooms and premises to reopen safely after months of closure. Further, online classes for engineering and polytechnic colleges, especially for the final year students, are to be discontinued from 15th December, and offline classes will be commenced.

Government of Assam has decided to reopen schools for students of classes from Nursery to six from January 1, 2021, said Assam Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma . The decision has been taken observing recent declining of new COVID-19 cases in ths state.    The decision was taken in accordance with the Union Home Ministry’s order, which allowed states to reopen schools after October 15, depending on the COVID-19 situation in their respective states. Addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Dr. Sarma said, “ The state government has decided to reopen the classes from Nursery to 6 for both government and private schools.
