#NoExamInAssam Campaign Goes Trending in Twitter

Due to the massive outbreak of COVID-19 cases in the state, students across Assam are expressing their concern over the conduct of exams by various universities and colleges, and have taken it to Twitter demanding the cancellation of final year and end semester exams using  hashtag #NoExamInAssam.

As per various media reports, the social media campaign #NoExamInAssam #SayNoToUGCGuidelines started off today with over 20k tweets after Dibrugarh University announced that it would be conducting the final year and final semester examinations for UG and PG students in the month of September complying with the UGC guidelines.

As per UGC guidelines, the final year and end-semester exams should be conducted by the end of September, 2020 in online, offline or in a blended mode.

However, Gauhati University has said that the evaluation for promotion for even semester regular students of all the Undergraduate and Post Graduate courses will be made on the basis of internal assessment and marks obtained in the previous semester examinations.

The official notice issued by Gauhati University said, “For all courses of Under Graduate and Post Graduate Final semester examination will be held preferably in blended mode from the second week of September depending on the normalcy of the COVID-19 situation.”
