Assam – Sarba Siksha (SSA) Teachers to Retire at 60 Years

Putting an end to various speculation, Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today announced that all the 29,701 TET teachers working under Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission, Assam (SSA) will retire at the age of 60 years.


Addressing a press meet at Guwahati, the minister said, “All the 29,701 teachers working under SSA will be able to work till 60 years of age. They will receive DA/ DR allowances like other state government teachers. These teachers will also receive increments every year from now onwards.”

“All these 29,701 TET teachers will also be allowed to take casual leaves, sick leaves, maternity leaves etc like a regular state government teacher. They can also apply for bank loans under SSA”, he further added.

He said shortly official proceedings will start for new contracts upto 60 years.

Dr. Sarma also announced that all the 11206 State Pool Teachers and 5243 secondary teachers’ tenure of services will be extended up to 60 years of age.

Dr Sarma further added, “All the 11206 State Pool Teachers teachers and 5243 Secondary teachers’ will be able to work till 60 years of age. The state pool teachers salary will be at par with newly-recruited regular LP/UP Teachers scale of pay based on RoP”.

Dr. Sarma further said, “Both and State Pool Teachers will be eligible for leaves as per norm of concerned Deptt”.

Meanwhile,  Dr. Sarma also mentioned that all the 5243 secondary teachers salary will be at par with newly-recruited Graduate Teachers scale of pay based on RoP.
