In view of COVID-19 pandemic, the Government of Assam has decided to conduct admissions to all the educational institutions i.e., the state universities, government colleges and technical institutions only in online mode for 2020-21 academic session.

The candidates are required to upload the scanned documents on the website of the concerned institution.

The same was informed by Assam education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter. He held a meeting with the principal secretary of the education department and principals of the colleges to ensure execution of the scheme.
The government has also decided to waive off all fees of admission, examinations, laboratories, excursion, registration, prospectus etc. for 2020-21.

The benefit of fee waiver will cover State Universities, Govt. Colleges, Provincialised Colleges under Directorate of Higher Education, Assam and all institutions under Directorate of Technical Education, Assam including Engineering Colleges and Polytechnic Institutes,” stated in the notification issued by the joint secretary to the higher education department of the Government of Assam.

However, fee waiver will not include self-financing courses of the colleges, institutes and hostel admission fees.

Respective official orders have already been issued for the implementation of this ambitious scheme.
