Job Responsibilities:
Prescription Verification & Dispensing
• Review Prescriptions: Check doctors' orders for correct drug selection, precise dosages, and proper administration instructions.
• Assess Patient Safety: Evaluate drug history to prevent dangerous drug-to-drug interactions, duplicate therapies, or allergic reactions.
• Accurate Dispensing: Fill and label prescription medications safely, conforming exactly to legal and regulatory guidelines.
Patient Counseling & Public Health
• Medication Guidance: Counsel patients on how, when, and why to take their medications. Explain critical side effects and proper drug storage.
• Administer Immunizations: Deliver routine adult vaccinations, such as flu shots, travel vaccines, or boosters.
• Health Promotion: Advise the public on over-the-counter (OTC) options, medical devices, and lifestyle wellness choices like smoking cessation.
Clinical Collaboration
• Interdisciplinary Advisory: Partner with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare practitioners to plan, monitor, and adjust drug treatment plans.
• Evidence-Based Insights: Provide clear, up-to-date pharmacology data and protocols to medical teams to improve patient outcomes.
Pharmacy Management & Administration
• Inventory Control: Order, organize, and monitor pharmaceutical stock to ensure critical and emergency drugs are always available without holding expired items.
• Regulatory Compliance: Maintain highly structured logs for controlled substances, narcotics, and registries of dangerous drugs under lock and key.
