Assam : Govt. Asks Private Schools to Waive Off 25% Fees, Check Official Order

The Govt. of Assam has asked all the private schools in the state to reduce 25 percent fee from pre-school to Class XII standard from May till the schools open.

"In view of Covid-19 pandemic, we have advised all private educational institutions to offer at least 25 per cent concessions in monthly fees (pre-primary to XII), from May 1 till formal opening of schools. These institutions are saving substantial expenditure under various heads," said the Finance, Education and Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma.

In this regard, a circular was issued by the Commissioner & Secretary of the Education Department of Assam stating the above.

The income of all the citizens of Assam has been badly affected and they are not in a position to afford the payment of school fees till the lockdown period is over,” states the circular.
The statement also mentions that all the parents are required to pay the fees by September 2020 so that the salaries of teaching and non-teaching staff can be paid on time.
