Each applicant may apply for a maximum of three programmes, comprising: One (01) Traditional Programme and up to Two (02) Interdisciplinary Programmes.
Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification: Candidates must be a FYUGP/ Graduate with minimum of 24 Credits in respective subject/s (Traditional Programmes) with Major / Honours or with Regular Course. For Specific Eligibility Criteria for Interdisciplinary programmes, candidates may check this link, here .
Note:
(i) Candidates who appeared/appearing in the 6th Semester B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/B.Voc Examinations, 2026 and are waiting for their results are eligible to appear in the PGET-2026 and get provisional admission if selected. However, the candidates must submit the Final Grade sheet/Mark sheet within 7 days of the result being declared. Failure to do so will result in the withdrawal of their seat.
(ii) Candidates appeared/appearing in the 6th Semester B.A./B.Sc./B.Com/B.Voc Examinations, 2026 and waiting for their results but have backlog in earlier Semester(s) are also eligible to appear in the PGET-2026 and get provisional admission if selected. However, the candidates must have to submit the Final Grade sheet/Mark sheet within 7 days of the result being declared. Failure to do so will result in the withdrawal of their seat.
PGET Score: All candidates must appear in the PGET-2026 to get admitted to any postgraduate programmes at Gauhati University and its affiliated colleges.
Application Fee of GU PG Admission
- For each PG programme, a candidate has to pay an entrance examination fee of Rs. 800/-. It will subsequently increases; e.g., for two programmes, the entrance examination fee will be Rs. 1600/-; and for three PG programmes, the entrance examination fee will be Rs. 2400/-.
- Application fees can only be paid online (by debit card, credit card, or internet banking).
- The application form will be considered finally submitted only after the said fee has been successfully paid by the applicant and an online receipt has been generated confirming payment.

Gauhati University PG Entrance Exam 2026
There will be an Entrance Test for admission into different Post Graduate Courses to be conducted by Gauhati University (both for the University Departments and the Affiliated Colleges of the University) for the session 2026-2027.
