CLAT 2027 Notification – Eligibility Criteria & Application Form

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a national level entrance exam for admissions to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) law programmes offered by 26 National Law Universities in India. CLAT is organized by the Consortium of National Law Universities, comprising representative universities. Several affiliate universities and organisations also use the CLAT exam for admissions and recruitment respectively. 
 
All admissions to the 5-year integrated LL.B. and 1-year LL.M. programmes that commence in the Academic Year 2027-2028 shall be through the CLAT 2027. The Consortium of NLUs has decided that Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027 shall be conducted on Sunday, 6th December, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The online application portal for CLAT 2027 will be operational from 3rd August, 2026 and will remain open until 31st October, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria of CLAT


The CLAT 2027 qualifying criteria for UG and PG Programmes are as mentioned below.

UG Programme:

Age Limit:
There is be no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Programme through the CLAT 2027.

Educational Qualification: Candidates who have passed in 10+2 or an equivalent examination with a minimum of:
 
  • Forty five percent (45%) of marks or its equivalent in grade or 
  • Forty Percent (40%) of marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories.
PG Programme:

Age Limit: There is be no upper age limit for candidates appearing for PG Programme through the CLAT 2027.

Educational Qualification:
 Candidates who have passed an LL.B. Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of :
 
  • Fifty percent (50%) marks or its equivalent grade;
  • Forty-Five percent (45%) marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories.

CLAT Application Fee 2027


Interested and eligible candidates have to pay an application fee of amount as mentioned below during online submission of CLAT application . The fee can be paid using a credit card/ debit card/ net banking/ UPI.

Syllabus of CLAT Exam

CLAT UG Syllabus

 
The UG-CLAT 2027 is designed to assess candidates' comprehension, reasoning, and analytical abilities. Rather than testing prior legal knowledge, the examination focuses on the aptitude and skills essential for pursuing a legal education. However, having a basic awareness of current events and general knowledge may be helpful in answering questions in the Current Affairs and General Knowledge section.

CLAT PG Syllabus


The PG-CLAT 2027 examination is designed to assess candidates' comprehension and understanding of core legal concepts. The exam will be conducted over 120 minutes and will consist of one section.

The question paper will include 120 objective-type questions, with 1 mark awarded for each correct answer. A negative marking of 0.25 marks will apply for every incorrect response.

The syllabus will be based on the compulsory subjects taught in the undergraduate law programme. These include Constitutional Law, Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Law of Contract, Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Property Law, Company Law, Public International Law, Tax Law, Environmental Law, and Labour & Industrial Law.
