A total of 391 students from Assam arrived Guwahati today on 27/04/2020 who were stranded in Rajasthan’s Kota due to nation wide lock down to curb the COVID-19 pandemic. Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with his state minister for health Pijush Hazarika received them at around 3 AM at Sarusajai and made necessary arrangements.

"After a long journey from Kota, 391 children are back with smiles and cheers. To ensure that they and their families remain safe, we are putting them into 14 days of quarantine," the health minister tweeted.

The boys have been kept at the Sarusajai quarantine facility and the girls in three nearby hotels.
The students started their nearly 2,000-km journey from Kota to Guwahati on Thursday by 17 buses. The Assam government had air-dropped eight police officers to Kota last Thursday and they came back with the students. Each student said Rs 7,000 for the trip back home.

The Assam government had earlier requested the govt. of Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to allow their movement during the ongoing lockdown period.
