Coronavirus Threat: Assam Shuts All Schools, Gyms, Cinema Halls till March 29

As a preventive measure to counter the possibility of the outbreak of COVID-19 or  Coronavirus, the Assam government has taken a decision that all educational institutions, gyms, swimming pools and cinema halls will remain close till March 29.


This was informed by state chief secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna on Sunday.

There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Assam so far. But all schools, colleges, cinema halls, gyms, swimming polls will remain closed till March 29 as a precautionary measure. All exams except those of CBSE and SEBA (State Board) have been postponed too,” Chief Secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna said in a press conference in Guwahati.


 
"We have already taken lots of preventive measures. We are trying to create awareness among the people of the state. All district administrations have been directed to inform the people about what to do. We have also created quarantined centers for about 800 people and isolation centers for about 100 people and ICU facilities for about 100 people," he said.
